“Most people in Guatemala study in Antigua, which is a beautiful little city, but it is also filled with tourists. I went instead to Panajachel, which is on the shore of a volcanic lake in the highlands. The scenery is spectacular, and you can take boats to the other villages rimming the lake, each with their own history, Mayan language, and culture. My teacher was excellent.”

VOLUNTEER:
You might come to Guatemala to learn Spanish, and discover something new about yourself through exploring and volunteering. We have our own organization called "Forging My Tomorrow" (Forjando Mi Mañana), through which we develop rural students, teach English, start libraries, offer technology training, and much more. There are many other organizations and opportunities nearby, and we can help you find a match for your skills and dreams.
